AI model disclosure

How Imagefall labels AI-generated models and how to control the disclosure setting.

Imagefall can generate on-model shots — your product worn or used by a person who doesn’t exist. They’re one of the highest-converting asset types the studio makes, and also the one where honesty matters most. This article explains exactly how disclosure works and what you control.

Our stance

AI-generated imagery is always labeled inside the app, and nothing is published without your review. For imagery containing synthetic humans we go one step further with a storefront-visible disclosure option, because regulators in several markets are moving toward requiring it — and because customers respond better to honesty than to discovery.

What the setting does

The AI model disclosure toggle lives in Imagefall’s settings and is on by default. While it’s on:

  • Every on-model shot shows an “AI model” chip in the review gallery, so you always know which assets contain a synthetic person.
  • When you apply an on-model shot to Shopify, its alt text is prefixed with “AI-generated model —” followed by the normal descriptive alt text.

The disclosure lives in the image’s alt text, so it’s machine-readable and accessible without altering how the photo itself looks — no watermarks are stamped on your imagery.

Turning it off

You can disable the toggle in settings, and future applied model shots will use plain descriptive alt text. We recommend leaving it on: it’s a low-friction way to stay ahead of AI-labeling rules, and it protects trust if a customer looks closely. Changing the toggle affects assets you apply after the change — alt text already applied stays as it is (you can edit any image’s alt text in the Shopify admin).

What it does not affect

The toggle only concerns imagery with synthetic humans. Packshots, lifestyle scenes, videos, and 3D models don’t include an AI model, so they’re unaffected — they still carry the in-app AI label, and they still go through the same review flow described in Reviewing and applying assets.

One more honesty rule that isn’t a toggle: the studio generates context around your product — backgrounds, settings, people — but is designed not to fabricate the product itself. If a generated asset misrepresents your product (wrong color, invented details), discard it and regenerate; that’s exactly what the review step is for.
